CHARLESTON, WV (May 17, 2024) – In a significant commitment to sustainability and passenger convenience, the West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW), the largest and busiest airport in the state, and West Virginia American Water partnered to install bottle filling stations at all gates throughout the airport.

This major enhancement reflects West Virginia International Yeager Airport’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of travelers while also prioritizing environmental responsibility. With bottle filling stations provided by West Virginia American Water readily available at every gate, passengers can easily refill their reusable water bottles, reducing their reliance on single-use plastics and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.

West Virginia International Yeager Airport (CRW) is excited to welcome cyclist for the USA Cycling Professional Road National Championships taking place in Charleston from May 14th to May 19th, 2024. The event serves as a qualifying platform for the U.S. Olympic Team for both the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games.

Please be advised of the upcoming road closures during the event which may impact travel to and from CRW. A full list of road closure can be found on the City of Charleston’s website

If you’re traveling on Saturday, May 18th or Sunday, May 19th we suggest giving yourself extra time to get to the airport ahead of your scheduled departure time. To ensure smooth travel to the airport, please note the alternate routes below.

Accessing West Virginia International Airport:

From I-77S / I-64E:

  • Exit 99 > Greenbrier St > Airport Rd.

From I-64W/I-77N – Two Options:

  • Option 1: Exit 100 > Leon Sullivan Way > Washington St > Greenbrier St (speed limits will be reduced)
  • Option 2: Continue on I-77N > I-79N > Exit #5, Big Chimney > Rt. 114 South > Airport Rd.

From I-79:

  • Exit #5, Big Chimney > Rt. 114 South > Airport Rd.

These routes have been carefully planned to minimize any inconvenience caused by the event. We recommend allowing extra travel time and staying updated on traffic conditions during the championship weekend.
